Located in the Lancashire town of Chorley, Highfield Nursery School is an Ofsted Outstanding maintained nursery school for children aged 2-5.

The existing outdoor playground was in need of a re-vamp so the Live Play Educate contracts and design team arranged to meet with the nursery managers to come up with an improved and long lasting outdoor play provision.

The project includes a timber traversing wall at 5.4m long which was finished with some bonded rubber mulch surfacing in front to highlight the area for active play.  The rest of this section had the old worn-out artificial grass and underlay replaced with our top-quality play grade grass with specialist wetpour rubber under to create a softer surface for the little ones to enjoy.

To create clearly separate areas, we installed some new timber pale fencing at 900mnm high including a gate.  This area has a natural theme running throughout with an emphasis to learning and nature.  With this in mind, a lovely hand crafted timber archway with large planters on either side has been installed and is topped up with soil ready for those spring flowers to appear.  Two activity tables have also been included, one with a tray and one with bowls for some fun and  messy playtimes!
